As his quest to become King of the Pirates continues, Luffy D. Monkey, the hero of the popular comedy-adventure One Piece, realizes he doesn’t know how to navigate. He and Zolo drift to a village to look for a navigator. As luck would have it, Nami, who claims to be the world’s greatest navigator, has arrived in the same town. Nami hates pirates, and tries to sell Luffy to the evil Buggy the Clown. Luffy’s unflagging good nature turned Zolo the Pirate-Hunter into Zolo the Pirate, so he may charm Nami into joining them. In an extended flashback, viewers learn how Luffy (rhymes with “Goofy,” appropriately) got his trademark straw hat from the noble pirate Captain Red Shanks. Some otaku have complained that the English language edition of One Piece has been heavily edited, and the rather choppy continuity suggests those complaints are justified. But even in a condensed, bloodless version, One Piece remains a highly entertaining series. (Rated TV Y, suitable for ages 8 and older: cartoon violence, alcohol use) –Charles Solomon
