Anime DVD Presents:
Gundam Seed Destiny: TV Movie 2

Product Description

The Minerva docks at a ZAFT base, where they are met by Chairman Durandal. Over a quiet dinner, he talks with Athrun, Shinn and other members of the crew. This conversation leads Shinn to reflect on the past, and the events that brought them to where they are now. But understanding does not bring peace, and after another argument with some of his shipmates, Shinn heads ashore to clear his head. There he meets a beautiful girl, and watches her fall into the ocean. He dives in to rescue her, and in turn then must wait to be rescued. Meanwhile, the Alliance Forces gather, along with their Orb Allies, to launch an attack on ZAFT. The Minerva scrambles and prepares for battle. But unknown to either side, far beneath the waves, another group is going to try to put an end to the fighting.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: The Far-Away Dawn

without comments

Anime DVD Presents:
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: The Far-Away Dawn (Movie 2)

Amazon.com

Director Mitsuo Kukada pulls out all the stops in the complex battles that make up most of The Far-Away Dawn, the second feature recut from the broadcast series Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (2002). The war between the forces of the Earth Alliance and ZAFT becomes increasingly tangled as operations shift to the Terran surface. New characters and new countries enter the conflict, introducing shifting loyalties, betrayals, and revelations. But these political struggles and the conflict between the human “Naturals” and the genetically enhanced “Coordinators” take a back seat to the duel between friends-turned-enemies Kira Yamoto and Athrun Zala. In their first spectacular face-off, they destroy the Strike and Aegis Gundams. Both pilots agonize over their actions, shedding tears like lawn sprinklers. But when they obtain new, substantially stronger mobile suits, they must decide how to use that awesome power. Cutting several half-hour episodes into a 90-minute feature means the action careens along at a breakneck pace, with little time for the characters or the audience to rest. (Rated 13 and older: violence) –Charles Solomon

Product Description

The battle lines have been drawn, placing old friends Kira and Athrun on opposing sides in the war. The resulting battle will mark a turning point in their lives as Athrun and the Zaft forces launches a major offensive designed to end the war once and for all! Contains never seen before footage created exclusively for this special release! Genre: Sci-Fi / Mecha

Gundam Wing the Movie – Endless Waltz

without comments

Anime DVD Presents:
Gundam Wing the Movie - Endless Waltz (Special Edition)

Amazon.com

This three-part OAV adventure picks up one year after the conclusion of the Gundam Wing series. Earth and the Space Colonies have joined to form the Earth Sphere Unified Nation; after a brief reign as Queen of Earth, Relena Peacecraft/Darlian has abdicated and is serving as a government minister. The giant Gundams (the large, robotic armor suits) have been hidden or sent hurtling into the sun. This fragile peace is shattered when the sinister Dekim Barton initiates a revolt to make Mariemeia, the daughter of former Oz chief Treize Khushrenada, absolute ruler of the new world-state. She describes the change as part of History’s Endless Waltz of “peace, war, and revolution.” If Earth refuses to accept the new regime, Barton will crash one of the orbiting colonies into the planet’s surface. Only the Gundam pilots can resolve this crisis–with a little help from their friends and former enemies; writer Katsuyuki Sumisawa uses the lulls in the action to explore their early lives in flashbacks. This special-edition DVD includes both the three-part OAV series and the compilation feature, which contains about eight minutes of additional animation. The extras include a “Mobile Suit Encyclopedia” with information about the five Gundams and the Tallgeese. The OVA episodes are: 1. “Silent Orbit,” 2. “Operation Meteor,” 3. “Return to Eternity.” Rated 13 Up for violence, largely restricted to machines attacking each other. The regular edition is suitable for television play. –Charles Solomon

Gundam Seed Destiny Anime Legends, Vol. 1

without comments

Anime DVD Presents:
Gundam Seed Destiny Anime Legends, Vol. 1

Amazon.com

The follow-up to the popular Gundam Seed (2002), Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (2004) takes place two years later, in year 73 of the Cosmic Era. Hot-headed Shin Asuka, whose family was killed during the previous war, becomes the pilot of the Impulse, the latest and most complex Gundam, which assembles itself in midair. Athrun Zala, the hero of Gundam Seed, has given up combat duty, but by the end of Episode #5, he’s back where he belongs: in the cockpit of the aptly named Gundam Savior. The conflict between the Naturals and the genetically enhanced Coordinators remains the underlying cause of the political conflicts. Renegade Coordinators disturb the orbit of the asteroid Junius 7, positioning it to strike the Earth. Shin, Athrun and other Mobile Suit pilots destroy as much of Junius as they can, saving the world from complete destruction. But the enormous devastation precipitates a declaration of war from the Earth Alliance against ZAFT and the satellite worlds of the PLANTs. Characters and mecha from Gundam Seed join the new cast in a complicated series of political and military maneuvers, highlighted by the rip-roaring Mobile Suit battles. Director Mitsuo Fukuda skillfully blends CG and traditional animation to give the fights in space, under water, and on land their maximum pizzazz. The endless flashbacks and the clips from Gundam Seed occupy so much time that when Shin and the ZAFT forces find the secret biological lab where children were mutated into the cyborg pilots Sting, Auel, and Stella, it feels like an afterthought, rather than the climax of the first half of the story. Gundam Seed Destiny reflects contemporary political issue more clearly than any other entry in the long-running Gundam continuity. The revolt of the indigenous people of Western Eurasia against the Earth Alliance Forces; the mounting chorus to purge Coordinators from “our pure and blue world;” and ZAFT Chairman Durandal’s lengthy denunciation of defense contractors who foment wars to increase profits have a disquietingly familiar ring. (Rated 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, minor risqué humor, alcohol use) –Charles Solomon (1. Angry Eyes, 2. Those Who Call for War, Those Who Call for War, 3. Mobile Suit Gundam F91: The Motion Picture

without comments

Anime DVD Presents:
Mobile Suit Gundam F91: The Motion Picture

Amazon.com

Set in the year 0123 of the Universal Century–the main Gundam continuity–F91 the Movie premiered in Japan in 1991. Although she was raised as a normal girl in the space colony of Frontier IV, Cecily Fairchild is really Berah Ronah, the daughter of a powerful, aristocratic family. Her father and grandfather are plotting to create an extraterrestrial empire, Cosmo Babylon. But they didn’t factor the Gundam F91 and its New Type pilot Seabook Arno into their calculations. With Seabrook at the controls, the F91 can defeat any number of lesser mobile suits from the Ronah private army, the Crossbone Vanguard. F91 the Movie suffers from too much plot for its limited running time: Enough material for at least one season of a TV series has been crammed into just under two hours. The crises end before they really begin, and the characters remain underdeveloped. The two-disc set includes a version with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio and a number of minor extras. (Rated PG-13, suitable for ages and older: violence) –Charles Solomon

Product Description

From director Yoshiyuki Tomino (Mobile Suit Gundam) — U.C. 0123. After a generation of peace, the Earth Federation has begun to build new space colonies to house humanity’s growing population. As their home becomes a battlefield, a handful of young civilians struggle to escape the conflict. To save his friends and family, the reluctant warrior Seabook Arno becomes the pilot of a new Gundam which bears the code name F91.
